This 6-mile scenic walk is perfect for those who want to explore Northumberland’s rugged coastline while learning a bit of local history\, soaking in nature\, and meeting new friends. We’ll wrap up the adventure with optional drinks at the Jolly Fisherman – a Craster gem renowned for its crab sandwiches and cosy atmosphere. \n\nA Bit of Local History\nCraster is a picturesque harbour village famous for its kippers (smoked herring) and striking views of Dunstanburgh Castle. Once home to Craster Tower\, a 15th-century fortress\, the village has a long-standing maritime and fishing tradition. \nOur route will lead us towards Howick Bathing House. Two centuries ago this impressive house was the seaside retreat of British Prime Minister Charles Grey. Yes\, the founder of Earl Grey tea! \n\nWhy This Matters\nWe believe that time outdoors is time well spent. This hike offers a chance to reconnect with nature\, put away your phone\, and enjoy a refreshing few hours in the open air. Our events are designed to be more than just physical activities – they’re an opportunity to foster connection with new friends\, clear the mind\, and support a good local cause. \n20% of ticket sales will be donated to the Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter\, supporting their mission to rescue and rehome animals in need.
