The same clifftops\, the same light\, the same sense of cinematic magic\, only this time you’re in the frame. \nLink to watch St Abbs in Avengers: Professor Hulk and Rocket in New Asgard – Scene HD – Avengers: Endgame\nLink to watch St Abbs in Harry Styles\, Adore You: Harry Styles – Adore You (Official Video) \nHalfway along the ramble we’ll have a classic group pic and take in the wild North Sea air before looping back toward the harbour village. Expect laughter\, easy strolling\, a light hearted nature\, no pressure\, wind-tangled hair\, cold breezes\, and that calm\, collective buzz that comes only from walking somewhere mint together. \n\nA Bit of Local History\nSt Abbs is a small fishing village turned coastal haven\, perched above sheer cliffs that teem with seabirds and sea spray. The headland forms part of a National Nature Reserve\, home to guillemots\, razorbills\, and kittiwakes that nest on ledges high above the water. Its cinematic pull isn’t new\, from Avengers to Adore You\, filmmakers have been drawn here for its raw\, untamed beauty and timeless character. Walking here feels like stepping into both the borders natural history and pop-culture mythology at once. \n\nWhy This Matters\nAt Tyne to Summit\, our walks are about more than walking countless miles. They’re moments of connection\, creativity\, and calm aimed at all abilities\, we don’t hike mountains\, we walk\, talk and make moments. This one invites you to slow down and stand where epic stories were imagined\, while creating your own memories along the cliffs. Because the best scenes aren’t filmed\, they’re lived. Funds will go towards our Christmas donation to our charity partner this year\, as chosen by you – The Newcastle Cat and Dog shelter\, supporting vital supplies for the animals. \n\nEvent Details\nDistance: Approx. 4 milesDifficulty Level: Easy\, with rolling coastal paths\, short climbs\, and some uneven groundEstimated Duration: 2-3 hours (including photo and coffee stops)Terrain: Grassy clifftop paths\, rocky sections\, and sea-view tracks \n\nWhat to Bring\nClothing \n\nWaterproof jacket (the wind off the North Sea means business!)\nDown Jacket\nWarm\, breathable layers\nHat\, gloves\, and sturdy walking boots with good grip\n\nFood & Drink \n\nAt least 1L of water\nSnacks or a small packed lunch\nA flask if you fancy warm coffee as you go\n\nOther Essentials \n\nFully charged phone or camera (you’ll want photos)\nPersonal first-aid basics\n\n\nPartners & Perks\nDeep North Donuts – Coffee and a handmade doughnut provided at the finish line.\nGrisport Boot Giveaway – One pair of brand new boots will be given away thanks to our partners Grisport!Spin The Wheel Prize Giveaway – A chance to win gear\, goodies\, or silly surprises in our post-hike spin the wheel raffle. \n\nItinerary\n🕣 8:30 AM – Meet at St Abbs (exact location shared after sign-up)\, check-in\, and briefing🥾 8:45 AM – Begin the clifftop loop\, passing the coves and viewpoints featured in Avengers: Endgame and Harry Styles’ Adore You☕ Mid-Hike – Pause for snack\, chat\, pic and sea views\, the perfect reset halfway through🔁 12:00 PM – Head to harbour for a snack/coffee\, wrap-up \n\nCommunity Connection\nAs always\, we’ll open a private Instagram group chat ahead of the event so everyone can say hello and build some pre-walk buzz. Blanchland is a tiny medieval village built from the stones of a dissolved abbey\, tucked deep in the countryside\, 45 minutes outside of Newcastle. It feels almost unchanged by time with quiet lanes\, ancient walls\, and stories woven into every stone. This 4.3 mile easy circular route takes us off grid across fields and upland tracks\, looping through peaceful countryside with wide views across the English hills. Expect wintry air\, crunchy grass\, and rolling scenery. \nBefore we return to the village we will enjoy the gentle spectacle of a beautiful waterfall nestled in hidden woodland. It is the perfect place for a group moment\, photo and a breather before the trail gently leads us back toward Branchland’s historic centre. Built on the remains of a twelfth century abbey\, legend says its stones still hold whispers of ghosts\, monks and their rituals. There are tales of ghostly processions\, darker histories of monastic life\, and stories of the Dissolution when the abbey was torn apart and rebuilt as homes. Walking through it feels like stepping through a folktale or a Harry Potter film. Many visitors come for its beauty\, though locals will tell you it is the whispers and shadows that make it unforgettable. The Lord Crewe Arms is one of the most atmospheric and iconic pubs in the UK. \n\nWhy This Event Matters\nOur walks are about connection\, conversation\, and creating a space to slow down before the festive season rush begins. This 8-mile route is a true adventure through ancient woodland\, steep valley sides\, rugged riverside trails\, and expansive viewpoints over the River Allen. This is a moderate hike designed for those ready to push themselves a little more than usual and embrace the trail. \n\nA Bit of Local History\nAllen Banks and Staward Gorge sit within a protected stretch of ancient woodland cared for by the National Trust.
