There are hills, and then there are the Cheviots. Rolling, ancient and breathtaking in every direction, the Cheviot Hills are one of Northumberland’s best-kept gems. On Saturday 13th June, Tyne to Summit is heading up into them, and we want you with us to reaching the top of Northumberland (815metres).
This is a guided community day hike through some of the most spectacular landscape the North of England has to offer, in partnership with Helly Hansen and alongside qualified Mountain Leaders from North of Tyne Mountain Rescue.
This is more than just a walk. Helly Hansen’s Mountain Rescue Team will be with us throughout the entire day, not just leading the route safely, but on hand to answer your questions too. Ever wondered what a qualified Mountain Leader actually does? What training is involved? What kit you should be wearing? What you should know before heading into the hills alone? How to contact them? This is your chance to ask. No pressure, no lectures, just real knowledge from the people who know these hills best.
Every penny from your ticket goes to North of Tyne Mountain Rescue. The people who keep others safe in these hills. It felt right that a day like this gave something back to them. Lace up, come out, and let’s explore something special together, book your spot now.
This event is run in partnership with Helly Hansen, in celebration of Open Mountain Month for June – where the brand and its partners (us included!) want to inspire, enable and empower you to enjoy the outdoors and enjoy its many benefits. You can find out more, here: www.hellyhansen.com/open-mountain
The hike will be supported by qualified Mountain Leaders. Suitable for adults only, expect boggy terrain, suitable for walkers with a good level of fitness.
