FAQ's

01 What is the mission of the Tyne To Summit?

Our mission is to improve the mental and physical health, social and economic well-being within our local community. Established in 2024 to bridge a gap in Northumberland, where local residents had extremely limited opportunities to engage in group outdoor activities as well as enhancing the exposure to the beauty that lies within our local area of Northumberland; currently the least explored National Park within the UK.

Our first 10 events have been free. However, due to a multitude of factors such as insurance costs, qualifications, demand, time and effort we will be starting to charge for our events from December 2024. We are a Community Interest Company, therefore every penny goes back into the business to support the community. For every charged event, we will donate a percentage of the money to a local charity in the North-East.

All of our Hikes will be listed on the Events page of the website as well as promoted through our Instagram and Facebook pages.

We aim to organise a group hike once a month, providing a regular opportunity for our community to explore new trails and enjoy the outdoors together, as well as meet new people.

Yes, our hikes are suitable for beginners. We aim to cater to everyone by offering varied difficulty levels and taking regular breaks to ensure everyone enjoys the experience. We also try to make the hikes as manageable and enjoyable as possible for all by offering a varied range of hikes.

Our hikes vary in size, but typically, we allocate no more than 25 people per hike to ensure a manageable and enjoyable experience for everyone, but also so that we can build an engaged community and meet new people through the hikes.

For a hike, bring water (consider a water bladder), snacks or a light meal, a map or GPS, a fully charged phone, a first aid kit, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), a weather-appropriate jacket, sturdy hiking boots, a flashlight or headlamp, insect repellent. Pack these in a comfortable backpack. If the hike is longer or in a remote area, consider bringing extra layers, an emergency blanket, a whistle, and a portable charger. Always check the specific hike requirements as some trails may need additional gear.

Yes, more than welcome! If we feel a hike may be in any way dangerous for a dog, we will state in the events page.

No – these are adult only evens, to ensure safety.

Of course, infact we’d be chuffed if people would share their experiences.

Please follow the “Leave No Trace” principles: pack all rubbish, including food wrappers and biodegradable waste. Use designated waste bins if available along the hike; otherwise, carry your waste with you until it can be properly and safely disposed of. Let’s keep nature clean for everyone!
