This weekend, our mighty Tyne To Summit crew laced up their boots once again and headed out for an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Northumberland. This time, the magical Simonside Hills were our playground—and what a playground it turned out to be! With 25 enthusiastic hikers (including lots of new faces—welcome, newbies!) ready to take on the challenge, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Sunshine, Smiles, and Simonside Magic 🌞
As if the hiking gods were smiling down on us, we lucked out with the weather again—seriously, someone in the group must have a direct line to the sun! Not a cloud in sight, and the warmth on our faces was the perfect reminder of why we love autumn hiking. Crisp air, blue skies, and golden views stretching out for miles. If you’ve ever hiked Simonside, you’ll know the stunning panoramas make every step feel like you’ve just walked into a scene from a fantasy novel. Who needs Netflix when you’ve got real-life magic like this?
Cake at the Summit? Yes, Please! 🎂
And of course, what’s a Tyne To Summit hike without a little extra treat? Enter Steph, our resident baker extraordinaire, who came through with her famous Guinness cake (yes, you read that right—Guinness!). When we hit the halfway point, out came the cake, and suddenly our pit stop turned into an impromptu picnic. It’s safe to say there wasn’t a single crumb left by the time we were done. Energy refueled and spirits high, we carried on, the taste of cake still sweet in our mouths. Steph, you’re officially a hiking legend in our books!

5 Miles and 15,000 Steps: Done Before Lunch! đź’Ş
All in all, we crushed it! Five miles of gorgeous trails, 15,000 steps logged, and all before lunchtime. How’s that for feeling productive? We wrapped up just in time to make it back home, kick off the boots, and settle in to catch the football—talk about a perfect Saturday and start to a weekend.
Whether you joined us this time or are thinking about jumping in next time (do it!), the Simonside hike was a fantastic reminder of how incredible it feels to explore our local hills with good company and a community of like-minded legends. Here’s to more sunshine, more laughs, and maybe even more cake (hint hint, Steph!). Until the next adventure!
Stay summit-ready, Tyne To Summit Team
